I bought my Christmas tree today. It's a small artificial one, with optical fibers running up from the base and down the branches; there's a gizmo in the base which varies the light that's sent up through the fibers, so it twinkles and changes color. There's not much room for ornaments, and I haven't had a lot of luck shaping the tree, but it's a Christmas tree, and it fulfills its function.
Unfortunately, the thing in the base makes a certain amount of noise - a good thing, as it'll make it easier to remember to unplug it at night - and Murphy's scared of it. He's spent the last half-hour burying his nose in whatever part of me was within reach. (Ben's cool with it. Ben's cool with everything, except when he's on a depressive swing.) Silly mutt.

Date: 2006-12-16 07:57 pm (UTC)This year, I did want a tree (of sorts), so Michael's provided the perfect tabletop small tree. This is small enough that I can pack it away *in* the house afterwards, so it will remain clean, unlike anything in our storage room in the garage (when Alec got sick, we couldn't have live plants or any of the beloved, dusty old ornaments in the house).
Hope Murphy gets over his scare.
