Compromise, Hell!

The debate in Congress over torture simply sickens me. The ballyhooed "compromise" between the Bush White House and Senators Warner, McCain, and Graham is nothing of the kind. John Cole (no liberal, he) has sounded off on it, and there's much more at Balkinization.
The provisions on torture are bad enough, but even such protections as are included are eviscerated by the stripping of the right to habeas corpus. Hilzoy has a good recap at Obsidian Wings.
As Tevye the dairyman puts it, in one of the best scenes from "Fiddler on the Roof": "On the other hand... No. No. There is no other hand. NO!"

You should add him to your list. You'd probably like the politics, whereas I'm mainly there for the music [http://www.tomsmithonline.com/ , which you need to check out instanter for cool songs, many of them free, and some political].
