Bird Brain

There is a bird in the house - a sparrow of some kind, with a yellow patch on its breast and a slightly curved bill. It probably came in through the doggie doors. (Yes, it happens sometimes.) I opened the doors to the back porch, and I've been trying to chivvy it out that way, to no avail. The dogs are excited. I am tired. I'm going to leave it alone and go to bed, in the faint hope that it will find its way back through the doggie doors. (It's too cold to leave the porch doors open overnight, and that would probably increase the chance of a second bird.)
Poor thing is probably scared, and my running around waving a sheet of cardboard at it can't have helped. If I had a net of some kind... but this happens so rarely that I've never felt the need.
