Being Judicious

Illinois elects its judges. It's always hard to decide how to vote on those; but I just got some help on that issue, in one case. I just received a phone message (taken by the answering machine) in which Rep. John Shimkus endorsed a certain candidate. That's enough for me: I'm voting against that candidate.
Shimkus is a hard-line Republican. That he is pressing for this candidate suggest that a) the race is rather tight and b) the views of this candidate are probably far from mine. (Shimkus was also one of the people who should have caught the Mark Foley page scandal early. He has said that he regrets not acting, but I'm not inclined to forgive him.)
