stoutfellowIt always amuses me that there are pairs of proverbs with directly contradictory meanings: "He who hesitates is lost" vs. "Look before you leap", "Opposites attract" vs. "Birds of a feather...", and so on.
It just occurred to me that "Sticks and stones..." and "The pen is mightier than the sword" is another such pair.
