"Wait Ten Minutes"

stoutfellowIt's been an interesting day weatherwise.
This morning, Buster had a 10:30 appointment at the vet. I wasn't sure how often he would want to sit and take a break, so we left the house at 9:45. He did better than I expected, not flopping down until we were on the last leg of the walk, maybe 300 yards from Hawthorne. Still, it was pretty hot. After we got there and he went in for his bloodwork and such, the nurse reported that his temperature was high, and suggested that I just leave him there; when he cooled off, they'd do the medical give-and-take (and give him a haircut, too - his fur is pretty badly matted). Then they'd call me to make the payment arrangements, and one of their people would drive him home. (They've done this before, a time or two.) I agreed, and am waiting for the call. It probably won't come until mid-to-late afternoon, though.
Now, though? It's pouring down rain. The NWS map indicates that it won't last long, but whoo - the rain is "falling" at about 30-45 degrees from horizontal. (It's heavy enough that I can see the trajectories, and I'm not exaggerating about the slant.)
Now it's thundering....
