Three lost pages from the original manuscript of A Wrinkle in Time have turned up, in which Mr. Murry explains how Camazotz came to be.

Two comments:
1) L'Engle's editor was probably wise to cut the pages; they're interesting, but hardly necessary to the story.
2) It never occurred to me to connect Camazotz to the USSR; I always assumed it was about suburban conformity. (Apparently it was about both.)
