Today at work passed relatively uneventfully. It was the aftermath that went south.

My one class for the day ended at 4:15. My bus was due at 4:48, so I had time to go back to the office. Halfway there, the skies opened up, delivering either hard-hitting rain or small hail, I couldn't tell which. Once I made it to base, I learned that a tornado watch (soon upgraded to a warning) was in place.

By about 4:40, the warning had been lifted, so I decided to chance heading to the bus stop. Bad move; the rain was pounding down and the parking lot I had to cross was a couple of inches deep. Then there was the wind.... I took shelter in the building nearest to the stop, but didn't dare try catching the bus. (Even if I had, I'd have had to walk a couple of blocks more through the torrent.) Despite my umbrella, I was soaked from mid-ribcage down.

I wound up waiting another hour, by which time the rain had finally died away. (I was pretty hungry; fortunately, there was a vending machine, offering a variety of over-priced and unhealthy snacks. I settled on a Snickers bar.) The trip home was blessedly calm, and I managed to fit in a quick grocery run en route.

There will, no doubt, be lots of Pilgrims this year. (April showers, Mayflowers....)
