Maybe it's because my sense of smell has been unreliable for so long (but it seems to have been coming back, over the last year or so). Maybe it's because most of the house-flowers I've been exposed to have been more decorative than fragrant. At any rate, I hadn't realized how the sweet flower odor can spread through a room, from an appropriately placed vase. I put the flowers Mrs. S gave me in a more-or-less central location - not a great place for looking at, but a place from which it can offer its benediction in many directions - and the house is a more pleasant place because of it.

Definitely going to consider keeping flowers around.

And now the horticulture minor [raises hand] wants to know what kind of flowers they are [g]. This time of year I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they're hyacinths, which are notoriously strong-scented.

There's a lot of flowers I can't have in the house (although I'm fine with them outside) because they make my nose really itchy.

Daffodils do smell good. Not only that, but they are one of the most cheerful-looking flowers on the planet, IMHO.
