Sunday Music: Flood, They Might Be Giants
Oct. 27th, 2013 03:25 pmAlbum Title: Flood
Why I Bought It: People kept saying "Istanbul, not Constantinople" to me, and muttering about prosthetic foreheads and birdhouses.
I don't really know what to say about this album. Much of it is just silly ("Istanbul (not Constantinople)", "We Want a Rock" (source of the foreheads line)). Some of it is fun ("Whistling in the Dark", "Birdhouse in Your Soul"). Some of it is mystifying ("Particle Man", "Dead"). Some of it tries to be more ("Your Racist Friend"). A lot of it just doesn't stick in my memory ("Sapphire Bullets of Pure Love").
I guess I'm glad I bought it. I'm just not sure why.
