Lucky you. I get them regularly. I'll get them three or four times in one day, then I won't get them for a few days, then I'll get them three or four times in one day, lather, rinse, repeat.
Fortunately they don't last very long, and the drink water/hold breath cure works most of the time.
When I posted that, I'd been trying to get rid of them by holding my breath at intervals for about half an hour. My very next attempt, just after I posted, succeeded.
Of course. Try taking a few sips of water before you hold your breath next time. That seems to about triple the effectiveness of holding my breath to cure hiccups.
Then again, a) I know someone who swears by eating a teaspoon full of sugar[!] to cure hers, and b) I think there are some scientific studies out there that 'prove' most folk remedies for hiccups are about as useful as a placebo (how can you have a placebo for holding your breath, anyway?).
