Catching Up: Gracie

I haven't been posting much the last two or three weeks, so I'm going to try to catch up on some of what's been happening chez SF.
I took Gracie in for her dental appointment on Tuesday the 9th. (I should say a few words about the stroller. When the stroller is closed up, the top is solid and opaque, acting as a shield against sun, rain, or snow. The front and back are mesh, so that the rider can look out, and there's room enough for Gracie to turn around, to lie down, or whatever.) On the walk to the vet that morning, Gracie kept peering at me over her shoulder with a pitiable look on her face. Why are you doing this to me? But she gave me no trouble, putting her in or taking her out. I dropped her off - this was around 7:30 AM, as per Hawthorne's instructions - and trundled home. I got the call for pickup around 1:30; she'd be ready to come home around 4 PM. The morning walk had been comfortable, but the temperature and humidity were beastly by 3:30, when I set out. The dental work had gone smoothly; as predicted, a couple of teeth had had to be pulled, and they sent us home with antibiotics and analgesics, and an admonition to keep her on soft food for the next week and to bring her back for a followup the next Tuesday.
On the 16th, I put a treat in the stroller for Gracie (I hadn't been able to do so the previous week - no food after midnight!), but she ignored it. Once again, she turned around and watched me en route, but this time with a canine grin - she seemed much happier. At the vet, the stroller was the occasion for conversation with several other... (What's the word, for people who bring their pets to the vet? They aren't patients. Clients? Customers?) Anyway, I talked with some people - an old lady with a cat in a carrier, a couple of husky men with an enormous dog (they agreed that he wouldn't like being put in a stroller...). The vet, after a quick check, said Gracie was doing fine, but should probably stay on soft food for another week. (I've been feeding them canned food, Alpo Premium Cuts brand, which they love - but it's heavy and expensive, and I'm sorry, but they're going back on kibble next week.)
Gracie seems to have come through the experience unscathed; she's maybe a little more skittish, less trusting of sudden movements, but otherwise the status is quo.
