More Resolutions
Jan. 13th, 2013 03:01 pmAnother of my resolutions for this year involves improving my diet, by eating more fruits and veggies and by cooking for myself more. (I make and break that last one pretty much every year....) In that vein, on my last shopping trip I picked up some Braeburns and navel oranges; I just had one of the apples for dessert, and they're as good as I remembered.
I also picked up the fixings for pulao. I was browsing through my LJ archive and ran across a reference to it; I remembered enjoying it, so I chose that as this week's main meal. I had some trouble relocating the recipe; the Moosewood books have lots of things to recommend them, but good indexing is not on that list. Anyway, the recipe calls for nuts as a topping, and recommends pistachios as a special possibility. Well, sure.... I just finished cooking up a batch, and the first helping was tasty though not memorable. I expect it to improve as the week progresses.
So, I'm off to a good start for the year. Let's see if I can keep it up.
