Milestone

I just noticed something.

More than half of my last mortgage payment went to principal. That's the first time that's happened.

It may be a blip. I always send in my January payment early, since I'm out of town for the holidays, and I don't know whether that has an impact. Still, it's a nice milestone.

Isn't that a lovely feeling?

Indeed. (And eight years hence, when I pay the thing off, will be even lovelier.)

Have you considered making extra payments? My husband was really impressed, once he saw the amortization charts. We pay a bit extra each month, & invest a bit; you know, that whole "moderation in most things [sometimes even chocolate]" thing. :)

I do pay extra each month - which is why, barring catastrophe, I'll pay off this thirty-year mortgage in twenty years (i.e., late in 2013).
