Senior Project

My Senior Project student just gave his presentation, and passed with flying colors. One of the other committee members suggested that it might be publishable; it needs some cleaning up before that would be possible, but I think she's right. (It'll go in as a joint paper, my contribution being editorial, but he'll get - and deserve - first billing.)

He's quite talented, and he's been making noises about being tired of mathematics. Maybe this will help recharge him - he really ought to go on to a graduate degree.

He handled it well enough. It was a big problem, and he didn't come anywhere near finishing it (nor was he expected to), but he opened up several interesting lines of attack.
