"Better Than Goin' for Walks, Even!"

This morning, after dressing, I moved on to the next step of the morning ritual: walking the dogs. Buster was bouncing around me as I went to the front closet to get the leashes. Gracie was nowhere to be seen. I called for her, then did a sweep of the house; she wasn't in any of her normal haunts. In the back yard? Buster's much more likely to be out there than Gracie, but... A look out the side window showed nothing, so I went out to the sun porch for a view of the main part of the yard. Gracie was there.
It took me a moment to realize what was going on. Gracie had caught something - what, I'm not sure, since all I could see was the hindquarters. I think it was a baby rabbit. I stepped out and called to her again. She glanced at me, but did not otherwise react. After a moment, I left her to her business. (She is a terrier, after all, pursuing her genetic vocation.)
And that's why Buster got a walk today, and Gracie did not. I'm sure she thinks she got the better part of the bargain.
