My thanks to everyone who chimed in on the Word/Office question. I did manage (after forcing the university website to disgorge the necessary information) to purchase and download a copy of Microsoft Office 2010 at a low price. (Note to self: even with DSL, a 650MB download takes hours. I had to temporarily change the computer's sleep schedule to pull it off.)
So, next question. One of the reasons I went whole hog was to get an updated copy of MS Access, hopefully with manual. Well... the Help files look like they cover a substantial amount of territory, but I'm not anxious to poke through a dozen small files to assemble a coherent picture. All of the programming in my current databases is done via macros, and I want to code, dammit. For that, I need an adequate description of VBA, preferably hard-copy. Does anyone have a recommendation of such a book? (I'm resigned to going out and buying one....)
