More Frustrations

Today I took the dogs for a walk, for the first time since Thursday's snowstorm. We had to keep to the streets, because almost none of the sidewalks have been shovelled. Much to the dogs' frustration, virtually every point of interest - street signs, mailbox posts, sewer gratings, trees - was surrounded by a foot or so of foot-deep snow. Their efforts to reach them were both funny and pathetic - e.g., Gracie floundering into a shoulder-high snowbank, making about six inches of headway before giving up, and then struggling to turn around and exit. They did manage to get to and sniff a storm drain cover, but I had to hold them back for fear of their legs - Gracie's especially - slipping into and getting stuck in the grating.
Still, it was good to get them out for an airing. It was bitterly cold yesterday, and they're predicting snow showers resuming tonight and continuing tomorrow, so it may be a while before the next opportunity.
