Good Friday

stoutfellowI find myself unexpectedly happy this evening.
It's not just that it's Friday - not even Friday of a long weekend. I mean, yes, it's good to take a break, but we're only two weeks into the semester, and besides, I do enjoy my work most of the time.
So what's good? Today's calculus class went pretty well; I think I'm establishing some rapport with the students. They're asking good questions, and even the complaints are voiced only half-seriously. (I'm managing to banter back with reasonable success, I think.) The tech glitches haven't been completely cleared up, but progress is being made.
Our research group is making progress on our first paper; we should have it finished and out the door in a week or two. Then we start on the second paper....
A woman on the bus today stared at me as I got on. I sat in the first available seat, and she craned around to look at me again. Finally: "You look like Einstein. Has anyone ever told you that?"
Buster is getting to the point where he needs a trip to the groomer; the key indicator is when his forefeet start to look like bear paws. But he's incredibly cute at that stage....
I just finished season 4 of my B5 rewatch; one more season to go. S4 was the best season, of course.
So that's what's been good today; but it still doesn't add up to my current level of happiness.
Ah, well. No complaints; gift horses, and all that.
