I just pulled out an old album, one I bought back in the mid-'70s, and transferred it to my computer: Helen Reddy's Greatest Hits. Just looking at the list of songs brought back a lot of memories. The album has the obvious songs on it - "I Am Woman", "I Don't Know How to Love Him", "Delta Dawn" - but the songs that really come back are the ones on the flip side, the ones I haven't even thought of in twenty, twenty-five years - "Emotion", "Peaceful", "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady". I don't have the turntable hooked up to speakers yet, so I just sang some of the songs to myself as the computer recorded them. I'm playing them now.... It's odd; I remember the songs, but I'd forgotten her voice - a little higher, a little more nasal than I remembered. Twenty-plus years....
