That was interesting.

I've been trying to give Buster and Gracie more crunchy treats, to help with their dental hygiene. The old stand-by, of course, is Milk-Bones. Now, Gracie has a little trouble with crunchy things, especially if they're too big, and - even though I'm buying the smallest size Milk-Bones they've got - these are a little big for her. I give Buster his bone and he just walks off with it. (He doesn't always eat it immediately, for some reason, but if Gracie or I come near, he'll snatch it up.) For Gracie, though, I have to break it into pieces. She, likewise, won't always eat them immediately; in particular, if I leave the kitchen, she'll follow me and leave the pieces behind (to be snaffled by Buster in due course). Tonight, then, after giving her her bone, I sat down in the kitchen to watch.

Gracie picked up one piece of her bone, walked over, curled up against my thigh, and began to eat it. After she finished, she reached for the other (I had to bat it toward her) and ate it as well.

Somehow that pleases me.
