It's About Freaking Time

Word just came down: Gov. Quinn has signed a capital improvements bill which will, among other things, provide for the construction of a new science building here (and the renovation of the old one). They've been promising us a new building almost as long as I've been here. This building's air conditioning/heating system breaks down constantly; there have been leaks in one or another office every few months (resulting in, among other things, the loss of a computer or two); and, with the new GenEd requirements that are supposed to come into effect in a few years, the Math Department needs a lot more room (for new faculty to teach the new courses).

That said: I'll believe it when I see it.
