My television system involves three remote controls. (The TV itself does not; I bought it in 1985, and turn it on and off manually.) One ostensibly controls the DVD-VCR box, which went on the fritz a few weeks ago. One controls the speakers, but isn't really necessary, since I have at least two other ways of adjusting the volume. The third is for the satellite box, and is the one that's indispensable. Without it, I can change the channel (slowly and tediously), but not check the program guide, call up program descriptions, or do any of the other things the modern viewer finds so necessary.
Guess which one is missing?
Knowing my own proclivity for putting things down in unexpected places (I'm always hunting for whatever book I'm currently reading), I've gone through the house carefully. No sign of the remote. I've looked under the couch and the bed. No dice. I strongly suspect that one of the dogs (most likely Buster) carried it outside. Unfortunately, the weather having been so hot, I haven't gone out to beat back the weeds in the yard lately, and searching for the remote (even if it's really out there) will be difficult.
Grmtz. I will probably wind up calling DISH to get a new one. I don't watch much TV, but not being able to - at least, with the usual facility - is frustrating.
