... except when he can't lock the bloody front door. (When I did manage to get it locked, I couldn't unlock it from outside.)

The locksmith just left. Fortunately, it was an easy fix - ten minutes with screwdriver and oilcan. It's a relief to be able to leave the house without worrying again.
