1. Living with two lapdogs makes reading the morning paper a bit more difficult, and doing the sudoku quite a bit harder.

2. When I'm sitting on the couch, Gracie will climb into my lap, then do this strange contortion which ends with her hind legs on the arm of the couch, her rump up by my shoulder, her forelegs on the couch, and her head down by my knee. She seems to find this comfortable.

3. I swear I've gotten more exercise the last three days than in a month of Sundays. I've had to walk a mile or two no less than ten times: to the vet and back with Buster and Gracie; to the groomer to drop off Buster and then back home; to the groomer to pick up Buster, and then back home; to the vet to drop Buster off for dental work, and then back home; and to the vet to pick Buster up, and back home again.

4. I think Gracie just barks to get attention. Sometimes I can tell what set her off, like the toilet singing - it does that after each use, at about half-hour intervals for several hours - or Buster curling up next to me when she's already curled up next to me. (One to a customer, bub!) But much of the time there's no discernible cause; she just jumps to her feet and starts barking her head off. She may make a pro forma dash to the window, but there's never anything there.

5. After cleaning Buster's teeth, the vet told me he was very lively, so I guess his quietness at home the last couple of days is more fatigue than anything else. I'm hoping for warmer weather, so we can go out in the yard for a good romp.

At least they're small lapdogs. Our first basset felt he was a lapdog -- no small feat at 70 pounds. I'm so happy to hear the pups are settling in. They look cute (though I admit I kind of liked Buster better with the Arte Johnson palm frond bangs - verrrry interesting).

Huh. I hadn't noticed that, but I can see it. Well, it'll cycle through again. It may take a while before I find a look I definitely like.

They are so happy! They knew from the gitgo they had landed in the lap of safest, warmest, most nurturing and loving of people.

Love, C.

It's nice to have you to rely on for at least one grin per day. Tell the dogs I said thanks, too!

I think I'm jealous. Even though Rion is lap dog size, at least at present, he is not lap dog quiet. On the other hand, Jack didn't want a lap dog, so I suppose it is just as well.

Unfortunately, I only have one lap. This causes the foreseeable problems.

James. if your toilet sings try bending the bar between the ball and the water valve. it should stop the singing. Or....... you could hire a plumber and he could do the bending..... The paper ran the worlds funniest .... it involved holmes and watson and a tent. Don.
