I don't know what triggered it, but last night, starting around 9 PM, my upper and lower GI tracts started taking turns, violently objecting to something I'd eaten. I finally (I hope) purged whatever it was around three in the morning, but between lack of sleep and the general washed-out feeling the night's exercises left me, I'm going to be running on fumes today.

(I've had some breakfast, and there's been no recurrence yet. Fingers crossed.)

There was peanut butter, yes, but I don't think that was it. My understanding is that the salmonella warning had to do with a batch which was processed into other foods - peanut butter crackers, I think - and not with over-the-counter, forty-ounces-to-the-jar peanut butter.

Correct on the peanut butter not being of the grocery-store-shelves packaging; I believe what they've identified of peanut butter was the large, institution-sized tubs.

Besides, trust-me-I-know, if you'd gotten salmonella, you would NOT be over it so quickly. Sorry for your misery. Do think carefully about what you ate that might have been tainted with something milder, enough to make you sick but not as drastic as a bout of salmon-HELL-a. You just don't want a repeat, I'm very very sure!

I'm pretty sure I've identified the culprit: a container of sunflower seeds (out of the shell) that I bought three months ago as a salad topping, and that I didn't refrigerate after opening. Out they go!

Yikes! Hope you're all better now!

Yeah, it seems to have been just a one-night thing. I'm working on eliminating possible culprits now.

Glad to hear it! Hope you got rid of the culprit!
