Jesus, Jim! I felt uneasy, in retrospect, about the fact that I wasn't hearing anything about how Ben was reacting to the new doggies, so I just have gone backwards page by page in your journal to see what the hell hoppen'.
You may remember that I was not reading *any* LJ or List stuff for quite some time. It's *not* a good excuse, but it's why I didn't know that you had been hit by a horrible double loss within a few months. I had no idea. I'm so, so sorry for your loss in September, and for what you must have seen as a complete lack of support from a friend from whom you could have expected better. I wasn't not-reading from a failure to care about my friends, but the end result was the same, I guess.
It make me doubly glad that you have two dogs to bounce with, creep out from under the various paws in the morning, and have all new adventures with (shades of Dag, seeing the world all new through Fawn's eyes).
Please forgive my apparent callousness; it was inadvertent, but I don't excuse it. (believe me, I'm always harder on myself than anyone else could be) :(
Don't fret yourself, please. I wasn't keeping account of who did and who didn't express their sympathy; nor would I condemn anyone, much less you, on that score. I know you better than that.
