I just got the joke from a "B.C." cartoon I read at least thirty-five years ago.

If you insist...

BC, the character, is standing on his head. Peter (it might have been Curls, but I'm pretty sure it was Peter) walks up, looks at him, and asks (something like), "What the heck are you doing?" BC responds, "I'm heading on my stand!"

My reaction, way back when, was, "Okay, BC said something stupid. He's always saying something stupid. I mean, he's stupid, after all."

It did not occur to me until this morning that the reason BC said it backward was because he was upside-down.

Not that funny, I realize.
