This looks like it's going to be a pretty dismal season, and I don't see much hope for improvement before '09 or even '10.

I guess we're just going to have to Greene and Barrett.

If it's any consolation, the Mariners aren't doing much, if any, better. Not that I follow baseball, since it bores me to tears -- I'm a Seahawks fan through and through.

At the time of the Sheffield/McGriff fire sale, I gave serious thought to switching my allegiance to the Blue Jays, but even that trauma was not enough to make me defect. This? This is nothing I haven't seen before. (Forty years as a Padres fan is a long time....)
