On a cheerier note, this morning I registered for MathFest 2008; that's the MAA conference in Madison July 31 - August 2. I'll be giving my talk (on "Special Quadrilaterals and Special Conics") the first day, in the midst of half a dozen other talks on Euclidean geometry. I've also signed up for a Short Course (two four-hour sessions over two days) on the mathematics of voting, which is a pet subject of mine - not something I want to research, but something I enjoy learning more about. There are a variety of other talks, panels, and events that look interesting as well.
[Note to
gryphons_lair: I'll be staying at the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace. I'm not entirely sure what my schedule will look like, but I think Friday or Saturday evening will be the best bet for a get-together.]
