Is anyone else disturbed by the direction Freefall is taking - specifically, the 4/28 and 4/30 strips? I really should trust Mark Stanley by now, but this is creeping me out.

I think that level of control over sapients had been foreshadowed very thoroughly in the robot plot lines. If an equally intelligent robot can be "killed" just for a quality control inspection so can Florence. We just have more empathy for her since she has a pulse. For a brings-the-funny comedy strip he gets into some very serious stuff.

OH, it's been getting creepy for some time now (http://freefall.purrsia.com/ff1600/fc01528.htm). At this point I'm intensely curious as to whether she's got meatbrain and heavy genetic/cultural conditioning or whether she's actually an electronic AI installed in a bioroid body.

Yes, he does seem to be leaning rather into the uncomfortably creepy these days. I'm hoping he's going somewhere good with this... because otherwise, I will be very distressed.
