Today has been, mm, eventful.
I put my tax returns in the mail this morning. The weather having finally turned fair, I got Ben over to the vet; he is now protected from rabies for the next three years and from bordetella for one. I also, and for the same reason, went to Custom Cuts for my annual defurment. (Defurral?)
That's the good news. Here's the bad.
I mentioned before that pale reddish fluid was slowly and intermittently leaking from Ben's nose. I mentioned this to the vet, and after examination he determined that there is a growth of some kind inside Ben's muzzle, rearward of his right nostril and above the roof of his mouth. (He pointed out a distinctly visible bulge on the right side of the roof.) I'll be taking Ben in for a biopsy Thursday of next week so we can find out what it is.
The vet didn't offer a guess as to what the growth is, though he did mention that Ben's lymph nodes felt fine and his heart sounded good. Still, to my (possibly overtense) ears he sounded as though he thought it was most likely bad news.
I'm bracing myself.
