Foreboding
Nov. 11th, 2007 06:52 pmThis year, I'm planning to go out to California for the holidays. That is, I've been planning that way. I'm starting to worry about Murphy, though.
Lately he's been limping heavily on his right foreleg. It looks as though his skin trouble has recurred, this time on his chest, and the skin at the root of his leg may be chafing him. I've begun using the special shampoo again - I still had most of a bottle left - and it seems to help a little, but the condition isn't going away.
The last couple of days, neither he nor Ben has been exactly enthusiastic at dinner time. I set out the food at the usual time; they look at it and wander away. It does get eaten eventually, but I think Ben is eating Murphy's food and vice versa. I put Ben's dish in the dining room, right next to the kitchen, and Murphy's in the kitchen proper, but Murphy seems reluctant to come into the kitchen any more. The kitchen is a little narrow, and it may just have become too hard for him to turn around in there. He even stays outside the kitchen when I go to get their treats. That can't be the whole explanation, though, because I've tried bringing his dish out to him and he still won't eat from it.
Tomorrow, I think I'll pick up some canned food on the way home and see if he'll eat that.
In any case, I think I'd better make an appointment with the vet. I just hope we can lick it faster than last time; if not, I may have to cancel my vacation plans.
