Oct. 21st, 2007 01:57 pmI made my first paying visit to the new Borders today, in search of books and music.
In the music section, I couldn't find any of the specific jazz albums that were recommended to me, so I bought Wynton Marsalis, "The Midnight Blues", and Miles Davis, "The Very Best: The Early Years", plus a Chuck Berry album.
I held myself back on the book front, limiting myself to: Laura Joh Rowland, Red Chrysanthemum; Janet Evanovich, Four to Score; Jane Lindskold, The Dragon of Despair; Robert Heinlein, The Green Hills of Earth; C. S. Friedman, When True Night Falls; and Terry Pratchett, Making Money. Two mysteries, four F/SF, mostly continuing series. (I looked at the romance section; Georgette Heyer was conspicuous by her absence. Odd, that.)

Date: 2007-10-21 08:54 pm (UTC)Is Red Chrysanthemum paperback or hardcover?
A lot of times, Borders has no Heyer, since there hasn't been a Harlequin re-release in awhile.

Date: 2007-10-22 02:07 am (UTC)It's been awhile since bought one of her HC's. I do need something to read on the plane this weekend, though.
Thanks for the heads up.

Date: 2007-10-22 03:00 pm (UTC)hunh? I wonder if they've got the Heyers in a special section/display somewhere else? Every Borders I've been to stocks her, as far as I know. Then again, I'm in England. Perhaps my memory of US Borders is fuzzy.

Date: 2007-10-22 04:02 pm (UTC)On the other hand, this is the first time I've been in a Borders since I got interested in GH, so I'm not in a position to comment on their usual practice.
