Progress Report

Ben has had the shunt removed, and I finally got him out of that godawful t-shirt. His appetite is sound, even though I put him back on solid food today, and he's moving much more comfortably than he was pre-operation. He still looks a little funny - his left side is almost completely shaved - but from most angles you don't notice.

The vet has pronounced Murphy's ear infection nearly licked, but it will take another couple of weeks with the antibiotics and shampoo before the skin condition will be taken care of. She also gave me vitamins to encourage his coat to recover.

I have spent more on dogs this year than on books.

Thanks! (Murphy continues to amaze me with his tolerance for these baths. I open the bathroom door; he trots right in and lines himself up with the tub so I can boost him in. He gets a little antsy during the final stages - the shampoo has to sit in his fur for five or ten minutes - but other than that he's perfectly placid about it.)

Boy, do I know that feeling. I had a $1600 cat year once. We were so not amused (any of the three of us).

Geez, Stoutfellow! I hadn't realized it was as serious. Glad he's doing better, but y'all have had a rough go of it. May all steadily improve.
