Okay, this is getting irritating.

There are a couple of webcomics I follow - or try to follow - on the www.moderntales.com site. For the last I-don't-know-how-long, I've been having trouble accessing that site. Here are the details.

When I check it from the office computer, using IE, I generally have no difficulty. Going in from home, using Firefox, I get a timeout notice. Going in from home using IE sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. This afternoon, I went in with IE and reached the site. Then (without closing IE) I opened Firefox and tried again; this time I got through. I closed both, cleaned up with AdSubtract, and reopened Firefox: timeout again.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this strange behavior?

Warning: not a guru. I saw this last night and waited, hoping one would show up.

However, I notice similar differences between Firefox and IE in that Firefox will give up earlier than IE - shorter timeout?

I also note that this started happening this summer (around the time my ISP did an upgrade). I am wondering if the DNS service used has anything to do with it. That might explain the difference between work and home.

Just guesses.

I've been poking around, trying without success to find a way to adjust the timeout.

However, this morning Firefox auto-updated; since then, I've checked that site several times and gotten in every time. I conclude that, whatever was going on, enough other sites and other users were being affected that TPTB took notice and corrected it. At least I hope that's what's happened.

hmm. So, I updated from 1.5 to 2.0, and, so far, things are much better. Thanks for the tip!

Mine is still 1.5 - specifically, 1.5.0.10. The problem has not recurred, though. What differences do you see between 1.5 and 2.0?
