1. On the day before my birthday, I ordered a present for myself from Studio Foglio. It arrived yesterday. I now have all five published volumes of Girl Genius. :contented sigh:
2. The zipper on my heavy winter coat has given up the ghost. Having the teeth come apart is bad enough. Locking up, so I can't unzip all the way and have to pull the coat over my (winter-shaggy) head, is considerably worse. Nonetheless, I bless the designers of the coat for including buttons. I'll still have to buy a new coat, but at least I won't freeze in between.
3. In the men's room near the Math Department today, I noticed that one of the two sinks was hanging about five degrees below horizontal. It was pulled four inches or so out from the wall, and one of the two input pipes was clearly disconnected. Above the sink? A sign: DO NOT USE. Gee, ya think?

[1] The zipper is still usable, if one is careful, because it is bidirectional. But when it jams now I pull the coat over my head and pay close attention to the jam. I only use it when it is very cold - below 0.

Er, that is, *I* have tried to use something that just *won't* work. When my attention is finally fixed on that fact, I realize that anyone *might* have seen that it was broken... :)
