BSG and the Gods

I've been toying, lately, with the idea of mapping the twelve models of humaniform Cylons to the twelve Olympians. It seems to me that the writers have been slapping us in the face with the possibility, what with the renegade Cylon taking the callname "Athena" (which is entirely fitting) and the one played by Lucy Lawless being named D'Anna (Diana being another name for Artemis). After those two, it gets a little murky. Six is a natural choice for Aphrodite, and I suppose Simon could be identified with Apollo (being a physician). The weaselly one (whose name I don't recall [Edit: Cavil]) who masqueraded as a priest on Galactica could match with Hermes in his office of psychopomp, perhaps. That leaves two of the ones we've seen - Leoben, and the other male [Edit: Doral] - unidentified.
That there are five other models whom we - and the seven! - haven't seen, and who seem to have some special status, tempts me to think that they might be correlates of the big guys - Zeus, Poseidon, Hades - plus Hera and... somebody else. Unfortunately, Hamilton's list of the Twelve includes Hestia, who really isn't a big-timer but can't match anybody we've seen yet.
Ahh, maybe I'm blowing smoke. But it's bugging me.

Date: 2006-12-17 04:09 am (UTC)* Zeus (Jupiter)
* Poseidon (Neptune)
* Hades (Pluto)
* Hestia (Vesta)
* Hera (Juno)
* Ares (Mars)
* Athena (Minerva)
* Apollo
* Artemis (Diana)
* Aphrodite (Venus)
* Hephaestus (Vulcan)
* Hermes (Mercury)
Which looks about right, although I agree Hestia wasn't a major goddess on par with the others. How about Demeter? She had a reasonably important role.
