(Pat Benatar's Crimes of Passion is alphabetically next, but I haven't listened to it enough, so I'm skipping it for now.)
Album Title: Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind
Why I Bought It: I don't really remember, but I suspect it was for the title track.
What I Like (Melancholy): "Goodbye, My Friend". There are quite a few artists who've sung farewell songs to deceased friends. This is one of the best of those that I've heard. (The words are slightly ambiguous; it may be a more straightforward "goodbye", but there are references to life and death.) Honorable Mention: "Adios".
What I Like (Rascally): "Trouble Again". I never really was a bad girl, but you got me in trouble again. A lively and rueful song, and one that leaves me shaking my head and grinning. (As an aside: my collection includes songs with the titles "Trouble", "Trouble Again", "So Much Trouble in the World", and "No More Trouble". Sounds like a series of novels, or a four-act play....) Honorable Mention: "So Right, So Wrong".
What I Like (Lonely): "Still Within the Sound of My Voice". One of those "I miss you" songs, with a nice train-in-the-distance metaphor. (She throws in a ship in distress as well.) Honorable Mention: "Shattered".
What I Like (Sweet): "Don't Know Much". A very nice duet with Aaron Neville: Don't know much, but I know I love you, and that may be all I need to know.
Overall: This is a pretty nice album - not a favorite, but with a number of goodies. I also like the title track and "I Need You". "I Keep It Hid" does nothing much for me, and the other Neville duet, "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby", is oversentimental; but, all things considered, I like the album.
Note: This will be the last Sunday Music post for the year; I'll be leaving for California before week's end. I'll resume these posts on January 6.
