Semester's End
Dec. 7th, 2012 08:40 amI met with my classes for the last time yesterday; the finals will be Tuesday (algebra) and Wednesday (engineering math). I'll have to scramble on Thursday to get them graded and the final grades computed and handed in; I'm leaving for California on Friday. I've found someone to dogsit (if I can only remember to give her the key; I've forgotten twice now), so that's taken care of.
Meanwhile, I'm laying the groundwork for my Senior Assignment students next year. It looks like I'll have three of them. One will work on the continued-fractions solution to Pell's equation; one will expound on projective geometry and Pascal's Mystic Hexagram; and the third is looking at multiplicative functions, convolution, and the Moebius Inversion Formula. Should be entertaining. I've done a Pell's equation project once before, but the other two are new, and I'm looking forward to seeing what they'll come up with.
But before all that come the holidays. I'll be gone for three weeks this time - a bit longer than usual. I'm looking forward to it. I enjoy my job, but sometimes you need a break.
