Miscellany
Aug. 4th, 2012 02:04 pm1. I don't know what's gotten into Gracie lately. It seems like she's barking all the frakking time. Sometimes it's "Give me a treat!", sometimes it's "Intruder alert!", and sometimes, as far as I can tell, it's sheer exuberance. Which is fine, except at 10 PM. Or 1 AM.
2. We finally got a little bit of rain - a small fraction of an inch. Not enough to end the drought, but welcome nevertheless. Wunderground says we've got a 50-50 chance of more rain tonight.
3. It had been a while since I bought oranges, but I picked some up on a whim earlier this week. Good, sweet, navel oranges.... I bought more today. :YUM:
4. The next album alphabetically is Ana Gabriel's Best, but it's entirely in Spanish, and for most purposes I treat its songs as instrumentals. I don't really have anything to say about it, so this weekend's Sunday Music will be the next album after that.
5. I'm about halfway through The Spring of the Ram; Dunnett really puts her characters through the wringer, doesn't she? And there's worse to come.... I'm also rereading Pat Cadigan's Synners, which I think is her best work, and one of the best pieces of cyberpunk. (I don't really think highly of William Gibson; Synners and Melissa Scott's Trouble and Her Friends are the standouts for me.)
Blah. Still feeling lazy.
