Catching Up
Apr. 14th, 2012 01:44 pmI've been pretty quiet on LJ for the last while. One of the problems with procrastination is that, if you do it long enough with enough tasks, the problem of simply choosing which task to catch up on becomes paralyzing.
Nonetheless, I'm mostly caught up now. I've still got to attend to bills (I don't think any of them are overdue yet...) and, of course, to my taxes. Even so, I hope to start putting up a few more substantial posts. I finished Scalzi's Fuzzy Nation a few days ago, and I'll probably have a few words to say about it. I also just finished Weber's At All Costs, and may comment on that as well. Not forgetting the Polygons series (which probably needs a restart; that last post overdid the details, I think).
We had a middling bout of thunderstuff last night, and it's been raining continually since. Right now it's raining pretty hard. I've been looking at the weather maps, and it appears to me as though the tornado-spawning front is going to slide past us on the northwest. Fingers crossed on that.
Two more weeks of classes left, then finals. I won't be teaching this summer; apart from the basement remodeling (knock wood) I hope to get a firmer grip on my current research. I'm definitely making headway, but much remains unillumined.
I've gotten both dogs to the vet for their shots and bloodwork; they both need dental work, and the vet is a little concerned that Buster is a little iron-deficient. He said I should keep an eye out for weight gain or lethargy. There's certainly no sign of the latter!
