The Ghost Who Walks
Jul. 31st, 2011 08:42 amI don't read "The Phantom"; my hometown newspaper doesn't carry it, and the few glimpses of it I've gotten haven't impressed me much. But the Comics Curmudgeon drew my attention to today's strip, and I have to admit I'm a bit boggled.
Here we have the white hero, making notes with a quill pen by candlelight, when his native friend - I assume from Wikipedia that he is a Bandar pygmy - comes running in to tell him what he just picked up on the Internet, said friend's rig including an enormous widescreen monitor, pretty good speakers and a triple-width server case (so says one of CC's commenters; I wouldn't know). Way to subvert convention, Mr. DePaul!
