Summertime Blues
Jul. 30th, 2011 06:02 pmSummer semester is over, mostly; my topology students will be handing in their finals on Monday, and I'll probably grade them on Tuesday. I'll also be meeting with my Master's student; she should be ready to present early next semester. I'll be one of the committee members for a Senior Project presentation on the statistics of experimental design on Thursday; I'm not sure I follow his line of argument, but we'll see how the presentation goes. And on Saturday I have to be on hand for Commencement.
Other than that, then, there's not a whole lot going on. This heat wave is thoroughly enervating, and the warning is in place until Tuesday evening - I think that makes about a week and a half total, unless they extend it again. The dogs are holding up pretty well, although when we come in from walks both of them just drop flat on their bellies panting. Me, I finally realized that the only way I was going to be able to make a large-scale grocery run was by going in the morning. Eight o'clock was just barely early enough - seven would have been better. (God bless 24-hour stores!)
I found a dogsitter for my week in Reno, and introduced her to the dogs yesterday. She (and her toddler son, who, for logistical reasons, will probably be accompanying her on her visits) got along with Buster and Gracie pretty well. (Well, the kid was a little timid, despite the fact that their own dog is a Lab....) So that's taken care of.
Gah. No energy atall, atall.
