One Fine Day
May. 2nd, 2011 05:34 pmToday has been a good day. The weather is bleakish, but not stormy or cold; that's not the good part.
This morning, when I took the dogs out, my cross-street neighbor was working in his flowerbed. We chatted for a bit, about - among other things - the storm that knocked down my mailbox. I rather ruefully commented that I was going to have to put in a shim or something to bring it firmly upright again. Then the dogs and I headed out for our trip around the block. When I got back, he was kneeling in front of my mailbox; he'd dug a hole and jammed a 2x4 in, then filled the hole up again. The mailbox looked like it had never been hit. (Well, except for the dent....) I'll have to think of something I can do for him in return.
Both here and at the office, I took care of some administrative stuff I'd been putting off (while still putting off some other stuff). At 2:00, my Senior Project student gave his presentation, and did a fine job, passing easily. That was a tough project I gave him, but he mastered it. I also talked with W about the graphics for my paper, and he suggested a thoroughly satisfactory way of handling them. Now, then, I have to buckle down and create the needed pictures.
There were other good things about the day, but they're pretty minor. Whatever: today has been a good day.
