Lines written upon the Occasion of a Trip to the Vet, and the Return therefrom
1To be sung to the tune of "Come a Little Bit Closer"Just a little bit farther
And then we'll be home
It's really not far
Just a little bit farther
Then we'll be home
And I'll give you a bone!
(I tried coming up with verses, instead of just the chorus, but they barely qualified as dog-gerel....)
Buster and Gracie have both put on a little weight - nothing to be concerned about, though Buster's maybe a little on the chubby side now. Gracie's teeth need work; otherwise, things look pretty good. (I was once again admonished to get them to the groomer, which I will probably do later this week.)
I took a different route to the vet this time; it's a good bit safer - I don't walk along the highway, and almost all of the crossings are controlled, traffic and pedestrian lights both. There are sidewalks almost all the way, too. It's also a little shorter, I think. Gracie walked almost all the way before demanding to be carried, but the brisk weather may also have been a factor there. The only downside is that there are a couple of undeveloped fields on the way, and I think Gracie caught wind of some kind of vermin - field mice, moles, something - and
really wanted to get digging....
1. Sorry; I'm in the middle of subcataloging my volume of Coleridge.
