Dec. 14th, 2009 05:05 pmThis morning, I called the guy who'd duplicated the house key for me. On hearing that the duplicates didn't work, he offered to pay me back, but agreed to try again. I had to go to work - the final for one of my Stat classes was at noon - but, as soon as they were done, I caught a bus downtown. The duplication proceeded quickly again, although with a bit more commentary, and I headed home...
where I discovered that the second try was no more successful than the first.
I began trying to come up with another alternative. I was unable to locate another conveniently located key-duplicator, and was starting to reconcile myself to Option C. (No details, please, but it would have allowed me, rather uncomfortably, to handle the dog-sitting without a duplicate key....) Then, prompted by a vague memory, I started rummaging around on top of my (extremely cluttered) chest of drawers. There, lurking under a pile of old copies of Analog Magazine... was a key.
I dashed to the front door with it. It works.
