Puppy Day minus 30
Feb. 4th, 2009 08:08 pmIt's very cold today; the high was supposed to be 20F, though you couldn't prove it by me, and it was windy. The high is forecast to be over 50F each of the next three days. That's Midwestern weather for you....
I've always suspected Civilization of memory leak. I'm currently engaged in a game on a Huge world (and have been for over a week; Huge games take a l-o-n-g time), and my computer is noticeably slow after each (one hour) session. I'll have to reboot sometime soon.
Every so often the Chancellor picks ten or so faculty at random to have lunch with him - a way of maintaining lines of communication outside the regular channels, which is useful in both directions - and today I was one of the invitees. The lunch was good and the conversation interesting, though I didn't have much to say.
I'm kind of in a blah period at the moment; it's hard to get up energy to do much. It's not hampering my teaching, as far as I can tell, but there are other things that need doing, and aren't being done. Maybe the warm(er) weather will help.
