Beginnings
Jan. 13th, 2009 11:54 amSpring [sic] Semester has begun. This term, I'm teaching two of my favorite classes, on the history of math and on differential geometry; should be fun.
This year, I aim to fix my own meals more often than not; this week's dinner is Brunswick stew. It's fairly tasty - nothing to write home about, but in weather like this it's warm and filling.
The recipe called for 14 oz. of canned peeled tomatoes. At Shop'n'Save, they come in 14.5 oz. cans.
It called for 8 oz. of canned or frozen sweetcorn. They come in 11 oz. cans.
It called for one pound of canned or frozen lima beans. They come in 14 oz. cans.
Needless to say, I did not follow the recipe precisely. Whatever works, works.
