So we slide into Thanksgiving Week break. As usual, attendance was a little sparse in some classes; my Thursday night class drew only five out of eleven students, and only half of my calculus students showed up this afternoon. (Slightly surprisingly, the majority of my stat students came to class this morning.)

I'll have to get a blender this weekend, if I'm to make that chicken poblano. I'll also have to check around to see which (if any) of the local grocery stores carry poblano chili peppers. If none do, I'll have to make something different. (I'll get the blender anyway; I'm sure I'll find uses for it.)

I might run over to Piece of Mind this weekend too. I'm up 113-106 in the read/bought race right now, so I have a little margin to work with.

My family will be holding its Christmas get-together on Saturday the 20th this year. The timing will be a little tight; I'll pretty much have to have the finals graded and the grades posted by the end of work on the 18th - and I'm giving one of my finals that very morning. But I've missed the last two years, looking after Murphy, and I'm looking forward to being there this year.

I'm not going to think about that now. I've got a week or so to relax, and relax I intend to do.

Oh, before I forget: I tried out the Typealyzer, which purports to do a Myers-Briggs analysis on the basis of what appears in a blog. Feeding it this address, I was surprised to be classed as ISTP, "the Mechanic".

I pulled out my copy of Kiersey and Bates to refresh my memory. It's been quite a while, but the last time I used their test I came out INTX (split decision on P/J on the last axis). K&B tell me that:
  • ISTPs thrive on excitement; they crave some excitement each day, in the form of fast motion - racing, sky diving, or surfing, for example.
  • The ISTP nature is most easily seen in their mastery of tools, tools of any kind, from microscopic drill to supersonic jet.
  • One tool especially attractive to the ISTP is the weapon.
  • ISTPs communicate through action, and show little interest in developing verbal skills.
  • Possessed of artisan intelligence, ISTP is not in the least interested in the clerical, interpretive, and "science" curricula that abound in the 20th century school.
Oh, yeah, that's me to a *tee*. :rolls eyes:
